Do I turn/power the iMac on, insert the OS 9 disk and then hold the

Don't hold the control, just hold the 'c' key.

Well, I've booted from the OS 9 CD.

Then I've gone to 'Utilities>Drive Setup.
There it only has the installation disk as a selection for initializing, so I have no access to the hard drive.

Did I take a false step somewhere? Do I use something other than Drive Setup in Utilities to wipe the hard drive? Or does this mean that the hard drive is dead?

Thanks,

Donald

Now this is an even worse problem. The iMac won't let me eject the OS 9 CD because the of the "active system software". I'm going to unplug this for now. Is my OS 9 disk trapped in the this? (It's a nice 9.2.1 copy !!!!)

Confused,

Donald
