Hi,
I'm running OSX 10.3.9 and am having all kinds of funky things
happening to my files (files ending up on the desktop for unknown
reasons, applications suddenly not opening). I have recently
downloaded a number of image-editing/photo application
files/applications after buying a new digital camera, and therein may
be the root of the problem.
At any rate, I wanted to start with the basics: running Disk Utility to
verify/repair permissions, but I keep getting the following message
after the progress bar has progressed about 1/3 of the way:
"Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management tool and
cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility."
When I quit and try again, I get exactly the same message.
I tried verifying/repairing permissions with OnyX 1.5.0 and it ran all
night without completing the mission.
I would appreciate any suggestions for dealing with this stuff.
