Hi there,

I second everything Brian says, except for a couple of things.

1) That iMac model can only address 3GB of RAM. Bumping it up to the
full 4GB could add an infinitesimal speed bump (I know this from first
hand experience, having a maxed out 17" model), but it's not worth it
in the end. A single 2GB would be the best way to unleash this Mac.

2) I would suggest upgrading to Snow Leopard only, not Lion. Snow
Leopard is a wonderful, smooth, stable OS. Lion is a mixed bag, too
much of a work in progress, at least for my taste. I'm actually
happier using Windows 7 or my latest discovery, Linux Mint (the first
out-of-the-box-usable, geeks-be-darned Linux distro I have ever
tried), than Lion. But that could be just me, of course.

HTH,

Felix
