Does anyone know if it's ok to disable short filename creation on the
spool using in conjuction with Declude/F-Prot/Sniffer?
Not unless you are 100% sure that *every* program running on the server can handle long filenames. Many command line virus scanners cannot handle long filenames (Declude Virus will automatically convert them, but if you disable the short filenames, then they can't be converted).
