Yes you can use the web browser to view mail if on the road. However, if one
replies or sends a message, there is no record in the Outlook pst file and
policy is to have a copy of all email sent.

The easiest solution is to move it as it comes in - but as this thread
shows, the easiest solution is not always possible.

Excuse me if I sound daft, but we have our travelling clients view their
mail through the web interface and move any large messages themselves to
other mailboxes. Yes, it would be nice if we did everything for them, but
if they want to use SMTP for file transfer, then they fall under a different
set up rules. You can't hook up a garden hose to a fire hydrant and expect
the same results.....

That is the problem - I do not want a 900k attachment clogging up the pop3
download when a user is in a hotel room getting a 19.2k connect through an
outdated phone system or when they are trying to transfer between flights
with only 20 minutes to connect and retrieve email.

I want to stop it at the server and divert it to a different email account
that can be checked only when the user has the time.

Nirvana would be a way to do that and send a simple "out of office" type
message that there is mail in the oversized mailbox to the normal mailbox.

Absolute Nirvana would having the "out of office message" include the
sender's name, the size of the email/attachment and the subject line.

But if it is handled at the email client side, then the damage is already
done - as the email had to be retrieved off the server at that point.

If I am not mistaken this could probably be done on the email client side.
Some email clients will allow you to retrieve header information only if a
message is above a specified size.
