Clayton --

At the risk of sounding like a hack for Declude Junkmail, I must recommend
their product as a very solid control for spam. We use it in conjunction
with Spam Review (http://www.slsoft.com/spamreview.htm) where we can review
stuff Declude puts on hold instead of redirecting all the spam to a
catch-all or individual spam box(es). Using Decludes' weighting system, we
now have a pretty good handle on what is spam and what isn't .... and we
kept an eye on this stuff for over a year.

Specifically, we didn't delete ANYTHING automatically. Instead, we let
Declude catch it and then reviewed it manually. This enabled us to build up
a pretty lengthy kill list while getting a handle on which weight would be
spam in our environment. Now, I simply let Declude delete EVERYTHING over a
certain weight while holding everything else for manual review. Instead of
having to go through hundreds of messages a day, now we only have to review
about 8 to 10. Nice!

Echoing the comments of others, Declude is very quick to answer your
technical needs even if your service agreement has expired. That kind of
customer service is definitely a throwback to the way it should be. In
fact, I wish IpSwitch was as proactive in customer support as the Declude
people.

Hope this helps!

Ted

Subject: [IMail Forum] Suggestions Requested for Help with Spam Problem

Hi Everyone,

I've had a lot of spam problems just recently. I even updated with the
latest txt files from Ipswitch and got v8.04. Imail not only allows too
much mail through but it traps too much good mail. I used the inbound
"x-imail-spam" rule to put spam into a spam folder as per Ipswitch Tech
Support but it traps so much that I had to remove it due to angry
customers. Plus, it seems like a full time job to get Imail spam to
work correctly.

I'm at a cross road and would like some suggestions. Should I renew my
support contract with Ipswitch in hopes that they can help with the Spam
problem; although they haven't been much help in the past and always in
a hurry to get you off the phone. Or should I try something else for
spam control? I keep hearing about Declude. How does it work in
conjunction with Imail? How are the reviews on this product (besides
what's on this mailing list)?

Any comments would be much appreciated.

Best Regards,
Clayton Muhler
