Not sure how that's "evident" from what I wrote...I've seen it and been there and searched it...I just don't like it.
I don't like that all messages are in a single archive. This means that I can't just search for subjects within a particular board...I have to search the entire database, much of which could be completely irrelevant to what I'm looking for just based on a keyword. Good web forums software also has nice features for filtering by subject, author, etc. and we don't get that with mail-archive.com > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Darin Cox > Sent: Friday, July 16, 2004 8:59 AM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: Re[2]: [IMail Forum] New Ipswitch Forums no Imail? > > Evidently you, and several others who have made similar > comments, haven't looked at mail-archive.com (if you need the > link, take a look at the footer of every message in this > list), where these messages are archived currently. > You can follow threads, search the archive, etc. > > I would agree that a new web forum would be a good thing ONLY > IF all content is in both places (to avoid diluting the > efficiency of either one, and allow users to use what suits > them best) AND the new forum provides functional improvement > of the existing mail-archive.com archive (there is much room > for improvement there in both timeliness of messages reaching > the archive and search functionality). > > Change for change's sake without improving functionality, and > that risks decreasing the effectiveness of existing > solutions, is just plain stupid. > > Darin. > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Lou Zucaro" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Friday, July 16, 2004 8:49 AM > Subject: RE: Re[2]: [IMail Forum] New Ipswitch Forums no Imail? > > > I for one would MUCH rather have a web-based forum than this > list...this > list is a pain.
