I think i speak for most people when I say that I have a mail reader rule that directs all iMail list messages to a separate folder, sorted by subject then by date, so that there's NOT the constant disruption in my actual inbox. When I am taking a break (break? HA!), I'll pop over to my "iMail folder" and see whazzap. Easy as pie.
Don't even talk about stuff like the merging of web-based posting methods and email... newsfeeds, etc... most of us don't want to play with what's NOT broken, and setting those up takes extra time and doesn't seem to be as reliable as a simple list like what we've all enjoyed for so long. More OT... I'd say: Macromedia has DESTROYED what Allaire built, as far as forums go (and some would argue, the product as well to some extent). Their new web-based forums rarely if ever work for me -- I can never find what I am looking for when doing a search (usually just get an error), and more than half the time, when trying to post (question OR reply), I get a web page failure of some sort... this, after going through the trouble of figuring out which of their "topics" to post in (gosh, do the idiots have enough categories?), and logging in too. I gave up on Macromedia's forums altogether, and I am no longer a participant. I used to get a lot of help within the Allaire forums, and I was so committed to the product and the company that I used to offer a LOT of advice there. No More. As a matter of fact, their lack of support and destruction of what Allaire was doing (CFMX 6 was a pantload, and 6.1 only marginally better with regards to stability AND their initiatives in the Java realm... CFCs are a sorry excuse for OO "classes", and lack fundamental aspects required to really make them "object"-able... [heard that the next version is better tho...]), has pushed me further towards true OO/open source platforms, mainly Java and JSP. The CF-Talk list is indeed still very active -- actually, it's always been a little TOO active, and I unsubscribed after a short time because there simply WAS too much traffic rarely related to what I needed to monitor. But the final blow was the destruction of the fusebox lists... once again, floating me ever closer to getting out from under Microsoft, Macromedia, and others and going with Java, JSP and open source answers. Sad indeed. Quite a few have "revived" fbcommunity and the [EMAIL PROTECTED] lists, but as indicated, they lack the "stars" that once drove the lists and made them purposeful and useful.
