For me, Dave Riddles post was right on - with the list it is a passive
thing - the mail comes in and it goes to it's own folder that I can
choose when to take a look, when to dump them. It's very convenient to
let it just sit there and pile up till I get a moment to browse through
the subjects and see if there's something that interests me.

I've had this change from list to forum happen to a couple other things
and found that over time I stopped going to the web forum. The downside
is that I miss some of the incidental items/information that are picked
up along the way that someday may be just what I needed.

While I'm working in one monitor I keep the mail client in the other and
can keep an eye on the activity of the different folders. It's easy to
while waiting for something on the main monitor to click over and scan
through the subjects of the different lists.

A good question to ask is this - are those responsible for initiating
the move people that actually use the lists and are Imail administrators
- or have more interest in spiffing up the appearance and 'enhancing'
the product offering. If it is admins that are behind it, it would be
nice if they would speak up with their ideas, because from what I'm
reading here the fast majority of admins haven't been able to come up
with a good reason.
