I just tried to compile the debian source-package according to the
instructions in the README. I did this:

vol...@vs:~/uw-imap$ patch -p0 < \ uw-imap_2007b~dfsg-4+lenny3~bpo40+1.diff

Added the line from your workaround and did:

vol...@vs:~/uw-imap/uw-imap_2007b~dfsg.orig$ make ldb

Everything compiles just fine, but theres no shared-library created in
the c-client directory (only a c-client.a). Im only familiar with the
basics of C and compiling packages and cant figure out, how to make the
c-client a shared-library like libclient.so.

How and with what flags did you compile the package to get a shared lib?

> Enjoy,

I'll do my best once i have it compiled and will definitely get back to
you whether or not it works :-)
