So why, after being repeatedly told that the problem is ultimately due to an incorrect definition in a glibc include file, do you continue to discuss the problem here?

Fix the incorrect definition in the include file, and file a bug with the maintainers of glibc so that it is fixed in subsequent glibc updates. That way, the problem gets fixed in ALL libraries and applications that use select().

There has been testimony that other libraries used by Apache, completely unrelated to c-client, are impacted by this glibc bug.

There has been testimony that other applications, completely unrelated to IMAP, are impacted by this glibc bug.

It should not require "elite knowledge" to conclude that the remedy is to be found by fixing the glibc bug. It just requires common sense.

If you do not know how to fix the glibc bug -- a one-line edit in a system include file -- then find someone who does.
