Well in OSS people tend to have different definitions of what "promise" means, exactly because the time is allocated out of our freetime for many of us and for others its because they are allocated to other tasks. Yes its dissappointing and annoying, but to me this entire issue to me just illustrates that the development cycles of our long time guru's is dwindeling. Something that to me implies that maintain even more "branches" at the same time is not the direction to take.

Exactly, but nobody has stepped up to do it in over 6 months, eventhough its conidered to the single key show stopper for a first alpha release.
