No, it didn't make it into the snapshots. The original patch was
against 0.3.6e and there's been an extensive rewrite of the cx25840
initialization code since then, so I'd say there's about a 0% chance of
the patch applying cleanly against the current version. I could remake
the patch if there's interest, as could probably most people on the list.
If we can get enough people with this audio issue to petition the
developers, maybe we can get something permanent into the snapshots...

This thread includes a patch that allows a module option to set the
volume level on the cx25840, along with an example volume level. I
don't know if the patch ever went into the snapshots or not.
