If you have JAWS 15 or higher you might have accidentally muted JAWS. The toggle is JAWS key, space bar, s.

You might contact Microsoft Accessibility at at 800-936-5900. Perhaps with their help you could enable Microsoft Navigator. Do you have a back up screen reader like NVDA or SATOGO?

If all fails and you can't get JAWS enabled/functioning call FS tech support tomorrow.

I wish I had a more direct way.

I do have actual buttons, cause I use a bt keyboard. However, on this

speech. it just disables the rest of the keyboard.

On my Toshiba Function Key plus 3 and 4 turn the volume up and down. I
wonder if there is a Function key combination that mutes the sound. Or do
you have actual buttons for volume and muting.

Hi everyone. I'm using a Toshiba laptop with Windows 7 and JAWS 15. Today, I
tried turning it on and waited for the Windows sound to come and for JAWS to
be announced, but neither happened. I tried doing a hard reset but still the
same thing happened. I don't remember doing anything on the laptop before
shutting it down last time that would have caused this to happen, but wonder
if anyone can suggest some things for me to try. I can't remember how many
times I have to tab, for example, to get to # start-up options or whether I
have to up- or down arrow to get to the right one.

Thanks.

Michele
