Dear Mike and others. At the moment, ow have not been able to try any 
tuggestions because there is no sighted person becheck when Windows is ready to 
go. As soon as I can, I will check the speaker volume and try your other 
suggestions. I usually use a normal desktop keyboard with my laptop, but since 
I moved, my work station has not yet been set up; so I'm just using my laptop's 
keyboard. 

Will keep you posted. As always, you've all been very helpful.
