Possibly, you muted your sound? In win 7, try this:
windows key simultaneously with R to get to the Run Dialog. Type sndvol and press enter. This brings up your volume mixer. Tab once to the mute speakers button. Press the spacebar. Does this bring back your sound? If so, you can just close the app with alt-f4. If not, then press spacebar again as the first time you pressed spacebar would have muted your system. The mute button is a toggle. I wonder if there is a Function key combination that mutes the sound. Or do you have actual buttons for volume and muting. I'm using a Toshiba laptop with Windows 7 and JAWS 15. Today, I tried turning it on and waited for the Windows sound to come and for JAWS to be announced, but neither happened. I tried doing a hard reset but still the same thing happened. I don't remember doing anything on the laptop before shutting it down last time that would have caused this to happen, but wonder if anyone can suggest some things for me to try. I can't remember how many times I have to tab, for example, to get to # start-up options or whether I have to up- or down arrow to get to the right one. Thanks.
