Hey Jim, I think the author (Bob McWhirter) is using it as a "lead-in" to get people to look at his rules engine at that site.
Evidently, the "rete mechanics" imply that there was a "relational" version of the Rete Network (by Dr. Forgy) and then others (probably including Dr. Forgy) built the more object-oriented versions. I agree that the Jess manual and the Girratanno/Riley book have been the best explanation (for me). As a matter of fact, I intend to review Girratanno/Riley tonight. "Bubba the Rules Katt" is converting my OPJS/ILOG/JEOPS agent to Jess V6.0 for me ! He said that he is enjoying re-learning Jess (he started about 4 years ago). I have your phone number somewhere and will probably call this week. Will you be home ? Unfortunately, I just gave my (never opened) scanner to my step-son just last week. Worst comes to worst, I might be able to fire up my wife's HP scanner and do the paper on that. Will Charles give his permission to scan it and send it to the JESS group ??
