I am running a Toshiba satellite laptop with a 133 megahertz processor and
64 megs of RAM. I come down more on Carol's side of the question where
performance is concerned, though I've not had experience with the Keynote
synths. I run Dectalk Access and Eloquence on this laptop, and they are
satisfactory, but I have had a good deal more problems with the laptop than
I had anticipated. I am running Dectalk Access and Eloquence on a PC with a
300 megahertz processor and 128 megs of RAM, and I can't tell the difference
between the software synts and the Dectalk Express synth I was using until
last summer. I hope that we see a significant improvement in these software
synths , because that's the wave of the future where speech is concerned.H-J
needs to do something about their SAPI standard, and I hope they do it, when
they make their next upgrade.
