Before jfw can run, windows has to be running. Before windows can run, DOS
has to be running.
When you turn your computer off without going through the shut down
procedure, your system knows this is what you did and thinks there might be
a problem. Therefore, after DOS comes up the next time you turn on your
computer, the system runs scandisk to see if there are any problems with
your disk drive. Now don't forget, this is before windows comes up and
before jfw comes up.
For the blind user, there is a little--barely noticeable--beep and your
systems. At this point it is telling you it is going to run scandisk and
asking you to press any key to continue. After you press any key, your hard
drive should start grinding a lot. This means that scandisk is running.
Though this explanation is a little over simplified, I hope it helps you
some.
