Adding to the discussion of books as movies, the first one that popped into my head was also "Gone with the Wind." I also loved "Fried Green Tomatoes, Shawshank Redemption & The Color Purple." I thought for example, "Silence of the Lambs," although a pretty good movie, over simplified some of the story. I guess to appease the general public & their lack of focus or attention span.
