I think it is about the voice with Norah and the way her music shows the things that 
have influenced her - studying jazz piano, growing up in Dallas, listening to country, 
etc.

To be sure, she is not a songwriter - yet.  And she may never really be one.  But 
neither is Cassandra Wilson.  Her career really came to life once she focused on her 
ability as an interpreter.  Her first several records pale in comparison to Blue Light 
'Til Dawn and New Moon Daughter.

Personally, I am not a fan of STAS - love the songs, but find the voice strident - so 
I 
would take Norah.  ; )

I'm surprised by it too.  And a bit dismayed, actually because I hope it doesn't 
influence where she ends up going.  I think it's tough to figure out what to do next 
when an artist has a "coffee table" record for their debut.
