And I have always heard "Charlie Angel" which further supports your point,
Jerry..."Charlie" being the name that was used in Vietnam, although I
forget whether we called them that or they called us that.

The "Killer Kyle" story was one that Joni sat on for a LONG time. It's
based on her conversations with a soldier back when she was touring in the
Carolinas and was one of the few to play Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, NC
(nicknamed Fayette-Nam). The same guy is the subject of "There's a man who
sends me medals, he is bleeding from the war".
