A few things come to mind.
1) While a soundcheck was a thrill for you, Crosby was at work.
He has probably learned not to mince words, and when someone
sounds to your ears like crap, it's best to tell them and deal with
it for the sake of the music. Plus maybe Pevar is someone you
need to be forceful with. I don't know.
2) Crosby has had very serious health problems, a liver transplant,
has to take handfuls of medications etc. That can make a person
cranky.
3) He is one of the most recognizable musicians in the world If
he gave attention to everyone who wanted it, it would go on
24 hrs a day. Maybe as a defense mechanism he does his best
to minimize and not encourage face time too much.
or
4) he was having a bad day
5) he's an asshole
I dunno. I saw him backstage at a festival I played at a few years
ago. (he was the headliner). He was just kind of hanging out
watching Vince Welnick's Missing Man Formation, and his son
Django (who, due to his curly locks, I mistook for a girl) and a
very burley bodyguard were there, too. I didn't feel like I wanted
to bother him before a show- and I guess no one else did, either,
because there were lots of people back stage, but no one
approached him. Later he put on a wonderful show, as he
has on every occasion I have seen him. Even in his drug-addled
days, he was captivating.
RR,
looking forward to seeing CSN at Clear Lake, CA end of
March-just got tickets. Had to mortgage the house.
