I should have phrased my opening statement differently. I didn't mean to imply a choice between welfare or unemployment due to the low minimum wage. I was just bitching about the low minimum wage, period. Because here's the thing: if your mortgage or rent payment should ideally be 25% of your gross income and you make $5.15 an hour, then you should be paying $223 a month for mortgage/rent. Even if your mortgage/rent is HALF of your gross income, your payment should be $446 a month. Just mortgage or rent. No other expenses. And I said "gross" income, not net. Yeah, right. Would someone please point me in the direction of this affordable housing? Or is it just some hell hole?? Meanwhile, we can't understand why people who make $5.15 an hour don't pleasantly provide good customer service. Yet when was the last time you made eye contact and real conversation with the person bagging your groceries or cleaning your office after hours? Lori
