As a visual designer, I have studied copyright law regarding my end of the
world quite a bit. Bottom line is this: all art (drawings, photos, etc.)
belong to the artist UNLESS the client gets a written agreement prior to the
onset of the project that the artwork will belong to the client.

Otherwise, I could design a logo for AT&T (theoretically) and if AT&T didn't
get a legal contract stating the artist is giving up all rights to the logo,
the artist could use later that logo in whatever s/he wished and sue AT&T
for usage fees.
