Yes, drag it from the Application Launcher, but not to the task manager - drag it somewhere far away (e.g. after the system tray), or to the desktop. We need to make sure that it's actually an Icon widget, and not a pinned launcher - it should say "Remove Icon" when you right-click it. And maybe don't use Firefox, just to make sure there's no interference from your modified .desktop file. Use something you haven't modified - Dolphin, Discover, System Settings or whatever is appropriate.
