It solves the problem on my end. I switched to X.org 6.9 a few days ago and haven't seen that bug yet, and I would have posted a follow-up on the bug reports after reading my mail. I seem to have set my pager style to 'Desktop Background', so the issue isn't gone at all. In fact, it returns instantly when I change the setting.
I have to remember rechecking this on my dad's ubuntu laptop. I checked his machine shortly after discovering the problem on mine, but didn't notice anything weird. He does have his pager style set to 'Desktop Background' though...
