It's a config issue alright.  I went and created a brand new user and
there were no visible problems.  Go back to my regular user account,
glitchy.  No other system settings messed with.

Oh boy, so now what in the config is causing this one?  Not a big deal
for just one user, but I've also got a deployment of KDE desktops at
work.  Yipes!  Was hoping to upgrade those folks soon.

As time permits I'll continue playing with settings to see what may
have glitched out kicker.  kickerrc perhaps?
