Intellectual Property???POPPYCOCK!! The KR boat and Spars have been in use
since the 1920s', long before Ken was born. VW engines were not introduced
to the aviation world by Ken. The wheels were from a go-cart, The airfoil is
60 year old technology....etc. and on and on!!!!There is very little
intectual property here. The over-all design however was masterful, the use
of wood and foam, the general outline, the wonderful simplicity of
construction, the excellent plans and again, on and on! But that is not
patented nor intelectual property. There are copy write issues regarding the
plans book only.
I bought my plans from KR before he died and called the company to tell
them I bought them in partnership with my brother-in-law and we were making
two aircraft. They assigned us a second number to present to the FAA . That
simple. As it turned out, neither number seemed to be an issue with the FAA.
The plans and experience continue to be a reference tool for me. A great
education and plane #4 undergoing taxi testing now owes much to the KR
education. But it is not a KR
