Hi Bev !

I'm not on my way to New Jersey. And that's because (avert
you eyes, all ye who know me and have heard the story...)
I'm going to be heading to Vancouver - and Alaska - in
September with my DH!! Our budget can't tolerate both
trips, so duh - guess which one I chose!

What's on my pillow? Well... since you ASKED ! About a
month ago, I trotted up to Philadelphia (that's about a
seven-hour trot, for those who wondered...) to take a class
with Michael Giusiana in Binche. I had worked really hard
beforehand, and had "putzed" my way through a chunk of the
pattern so that I would know where I really needed help.
Michael was wonderful, the class was full of really great
people who were fun to be with, and I am REALLY hooked on
Binche! As soon as I got home, I ordered a copy of "How to
Improve Binche" by Vera Cockuyt, and that has made my lace
even nicer! So I have a large handkerchief on my pillow. I
have worked the first side (some of which will have to be
overlapped and discarded...) and have worked about half-way
down the second side. This is SUCH a wonderful lace!! I
thought, when I first started it, that I would have to watch
the diagram every stitch of the way... But the mechanics of
Binche are becoming second-nature now, and I am finding
myself checking the diagram less and less!! This is an
incredible source of excitement for me - because I always
thought Binche was so difficult!! (Well - it's not easy,
but if you stick with it...)

In other words, the house isn't dusted, the meals are
haphazard... I still bathe regularly and spend time with
the family - but goodness, this is addictive!! ; )
