I also have the quandry that in making lace for the great niece/nephew's Christening gown, I am using my grandmother torchon lace, made over 80 years ago, as a guide to design mine. I have looked through several books to find similar designs incorporating spiders with fans and then had help plotting it onto the computer lace program Ruth teaches. So whose design is it, mine, the author of the lace program, Robin Lewis-Wild's, Jeanine's, whose computer I used, or my long dead grandmother's, hmmmm. Even with the piece I have no idea where my grandmother got the pattern which will be used on the petticoat.
