Dear Lace Friends,

I am spending the time anticipating the arrival of granddaughter #1!! We are going to make a trip to visit our daughter and son-in-law and grandson #1 in about 12 days. I am making a bonnet for the baby with smocking and a lace back of Bucks Point lace. The pattern is called "Cinderella" by Geraldine Stott. It wasn't a hard choice since my great-great-grandmother's name was Cinderella. She wasn't the first to be named that either, as her mother was also a Cinderella.

I wonder what would possess a mother living in the rural south in the early 1800's to name a little girl that. I suppose there has always been some fascination with the story. Then, some of us, like me, get to live our happily ever afters married to our very own Prince Charming's; or Mr. Darcy's ...take your pick.
