Tether length? I was told 3 -4 inches also and have pretty much stuck with that length but it also depends on the size of the pillow, where exactly my lace is at the moment and the number of bobbins used and how well I can see what I am doing. One person with longer arms and torso has her tether at over 12 inches as that is comfortable for her with the position of her pillow.
