No. Removal of the battery is not detected via evprint, or lsham -m.

But why would battery removal be detected under Vista if its a BIOS problem?

I checked the Sony web site, there is an updated BIOS, but its only supposed to
improve Vista compatibility and improve security of the fingerprint reader.
Nothing about battery indication, which as I said, works fine under Vista.

I applied the bios update, as well as one to update the firmware on the cd
writer, but it is making no difference to the battery issue.

This is the output of that command, a 5-10 minutes after the battery was
removed.

# lshal | grep resent
  ac_adapter.present = true  (bool)
  battery.voltage.present = 12282  (0x2ffa)  (int)
  battery.present = true  (bool)

Any more thoughts ??
