What happened since you sent your prior message to reassure you about suitability of your cable? And why is "pretty sure" sure enough for a troubleshooting exercise? Since you *know* there is a problem, isn't it worth a few minutes of your time to check this as a possible source of the problem ... especially since you yourself suggested it as a candidate for the cause? Mike, Charles, and I have all tried to respond to your very vague problem descriptions ... but leaf-user is a troubleshooting list, not the Psychic Friends Network. We can't read your mind, and we don't get to see what you are seeing. If you don't actually describe the details of your setup, what you did, and how it failed, we can't help you spot what is wrong. At this point, you haven't even been definite about which LEAF (not LRP) variant you are using (an early message said you "think" it is Eigerstein 2 with "a few modifications to tune it to my needs"), let alone anything that might help us spot the actual problem with your setup.
