Mark I think its a bit unfair to just judge Beckford on the last 2 games and ignore the 50 odd before that.
With Beckford it's a simple calculation. His pace and goals represent a rare commodity in this division, if his wage demands are so outrageous that between the wages saved and the transfer fee received Leeds think they can get another player (or even 2) who will add as much to the team they should let him go. If they can't then they need to pay him. Being an annoying stroppy git is something you have to live with if you weaken the team without him and given the prices being quoted for Cox (decent but never Premier League level) and Lambert (lower division journeyman who hit a purple patch), i'm not sure he'll be that easy to replace. I disagree with Rich re Douglas - i think he's been a useful player this year but as Tim said he's probably on a Championship contract which we can no longer justify paying. As for Douglas .... well as you can imagine I'm glad he'll never play for Leeds again. For me, he typifies why Leeds are in the state they are - average, overrated players who continue to get picked week in week out. Douglas is the most annoying of them all because he's supposed to have higher league pedigree but through playing for Leeds he's actually only now found his level and sometimes he even then he struggles. Got to go down as one of the worse Leeds players in history in my opinion. p.s.
