HI Guys!I feel in love with my Legacy, At the time I was making appx. 15 martial art dummy's a year. all by hand, I owed a lathe, but knew that I needed something bigger/better then what I had. When I saw the 1000ex. at a woodworking show, I knew that It could do exactly what I needed. To my surprise the Legacy surpassed all my expectations, What I was making was Rustic ,it worked but it wasn't pretty, The Legacy made me see the art side of woodworking that I never had the skills (Or time.) to do, Today I want to make things that look good as well as are functional. Like Tim, When I talked to Mike, he showed me how he modified his tools to do what he was making at that time, I knew that I to could modify my 1000ex a little, so that I could make my Legacy even better. by using some simple concepts and adding a drive motor,( and latter a spindle drive motor), My Legacy become more of a production tool, Far surpassing what Legacy had intend my machine to be when they sold it to me.Today all my tools/ Legacy have been modified so that I can get the most out of them. My 1000 now has linear rails and a tilting Z axis, and you 200 works with an angle grinder (most of the time) to remove the waist materials FAST, so I can get to the parts that I like to do. (that is to add details/make it pretty!)I can honestly say that Legacy has changed my life, and many of the people here have become some of my closest friends. I have learned so much form many of you. I would like to say Thank you all. C.A.G. On Sunday, May 12, 2024 at 10:21:34 PM EDT, Tim Ziegler <timjzieg...@gmail.com> wrote: I know right Bill. lol. Hey Tim, Sorry little late in getting into the discussion but I would still like to say why I bought my first WoodChuck then my first LOM. When they originally came out I was really not too interested in them. I was rather misled that if you had a lathe you didn't need the LOM's. Furthest thing from the truth. I traded for my WoodChuck a Delta lathe duplicator. But not until I did some research and spoke with Mike Pung for over 2 hours one night. After that I saw the cool spirals and different things I could do with it and went ahead and made the trade. Now I could have some real fun. Wasn't long and Mike sent me a link to a 1200 LOM for sale. I just knew I had to have it. So my college kids were home on Christmas break and we know someone that needed money that agreed to take the trip to pick it up down in texas. I was super excited as now I would be able to make many of the items posted on our current forum. I absolutely love my 1200 and knew it would benefit me in my business. And it has. However I become rather obsessed with owning more LOM's. To date I own 6 complete machines and at least 2 more in tare downs and as parts. At least 4 of my machines have drive motors. I have made boat parts, table legs, fluted rails, spirals etc... I love them and have a lot of fun with them. Kind Regards, Timothy J. For me, I bought my first machine when I wanted to bring a different level of details to my current work. I was in a real niche market that I wanted to do some woodworking "tricks" that few people could figure out how they were made.
