Dear Jack,
If you did a basic genealogy course, the first thing you would be taught
would be to record each individual under their BIRTH name. Legacy
allows enormous flexibility but your method would be extremely confusing
to other genealogists.

She goes by the name of Susan Williams Lane or Mrs. Jack Lane. I thought
this was normal.

I'm sorry, Jack, I don't see this. In England at least, when Mary SMITH
marries Jack JONES she is then (usually) known as Mary JONES. If you
call her Mary Smith JONES you are recording a name which she has never
used, and which would not appear in any official records either.
"Accurate" isn't a word that I would use.
