Jon, Here is some more oddities. My son was born and lived in California. Never set foot in Michigan yet his SS first 3 digits are Michigan 374
The town, state in the SS Death Index is not necessarily where the person died. Rochester, Oakland County, Michigan had their ZIP code changed. The people that had last residence in Rochester now have last residence in St Clair County Michigan. Residence at time of death (this is really the address of record, but not necessarily where they lived or died). My father in law that died in Merced County California has the last residence Pierce County, Washington. He never ever was in the state of Washington. They used our address as my husband was his father's conservator. So we must be careful in drawing conclusions from the SSDI. > > Jon Raymond > St Paul Park, MN > Web site: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~raymond/ > > Enter the drawing for a FREE Legacy Cruise to Alaska or a FREE research > trip to Salt Lake's Family History Library.
