Susan,

You are correct that there is not a location for the marriage status. For
now, in this situation, I would suggest that you leave the status and status
date blank, and create a new marriage event. One for divorced. Another for
the remarriage. Doing this would prevent the duplication of the status date.

Only Divorced is a part of the default set in the Master Marriage Status
List. You have likely entered 'Divorce' at some time which then added it to
this list.

In "The marriage ended in Divorce", the D should probably be lower-cased.
I'll report this.

The marriage status is an option on the Include tab in the Family Group
Record's report options.

Thanks,

Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Subsequent marriages

Hi Geoff,

(I am using Legacy Deluxe v.5.) I have this case with my brother. He has
three marriages to two women. I entered his last two marriages, linking him
to the same woman. The report always came out pretty ugly. But then after I
read your question, it made me go back to the Marriage entry for the third
marriage. I changed the wording from "married" to "remarried" and now I am
much happier with the result in the reports.

One thing I noticed, however, is that I can status the change
(divorce) with the actual date, but I can't put the status location in. He
was married to the first wife in one place, and divorced in a second.
Shouldn't that be an optional entry, too, just like the date? I coud do a
marriage fact, but I didn't like how it duplicated the date.

And can you explain what the difference in the two statuses of Divorce and
Divorced are? The wording doesn't change in my two book reports --
descendants narrative and descendants. "The marriage ended in Divorce." And
why is that capitalized? And why is there no marriage status in Family Group
Record? You do see the status in the Individual Report.

Thanks for asking the question.
