Gary,

In a nutshell:

Gedstar - Works on the Palm OS and is only READ ONLY. There was chatter a
long time ago that the company was not even thinking of making it sync with
Legacy.

Pocket Genealogist - Works on the Windows CE / Windows Mobile platforms and
can be read only or it can be setup to sync with your database.

I have a Garmin IQ 3600 (Palm OS 4.01) and a Garmin M5 (Windows Mobile
2003). The 3600 I have had for about 2 years and I purchased Gedstar Plus.
I received my M5 last Thursday and Saturday I purchased the Pocket
Genealogist. I have transferred my database to the devise, but haven't had
an opportunity to sync it with my Legacy file yet. My FDB file contains
about 36,800 individuals. It takes up about 26+ MB of space with the
options I selected. With my Gedstar, the database took up about 8.5 MB. I
didn't transfer as much data.

Subject: [LegacyUG] PDAs and Legacy

I am considering my first PDA. The model looking like it comes closest
to fitting my budget/needs is Palm Tungsten E2 retailing at around $180,
with 32mb of memory. A $60 keyboard is an add-on option also being
considered.

My Legacy file contains about 1,800 names with a sizeable picture
library.

I'm more than a little confused between "Pocket Genealogist Advanced"
and "Gedstar Pro" and their compatibility with Legacy 6.0. What is the
difference between the two?

I would welcome any advice regarding which program would be best to go
with (your opinion on the choice of PDA is welcome too).

Thanks
Gary
