I would see nothing wrong with using a LiveCD with is running an older version of LFS, but simply has the latest 6.3 sources from which to build the real LFS box. While it's nice for the two to be in the same ballpark, there's nothing that says the LiveCD needs to be running 6.3, just that it should be sufficient to build 6.3.
