I would suggest that you think about what is involved when building
LFS. We can still build from a Pentium II machine, but LFS isn't
relying on the fact that the CPU is a P2.
When you have a system with many components, there is always a bottleneck.
If you increase the speed of a component it may or may not speed up the
whole process. In this case after over 15 years of doing LFS, I can say
that the speed of the CPU is the critical component that regulates the
timing of the build.
When I say it is CPU bound, it means that the CPU is the most significant
bottleneck that governs build speed. That includes both architecture and
clock speed.
