Slightly off topic - but there's one annoying thing when you just build our uImage. The linaro default .config has these options as modules: CONFIG_NLS_CODEPAGE_437=m CONFIG_NLS_ISO8859_1=m This means you can't update the kernel on your target device because you can't mount /dev/mmcblk0p1.
