Well, I've battled some LDM's and here's my rule of thumb: "Always let LDM's do to themselves". That means: You can tell *variables* to change in the LDM-scope from the outside, but any real change in "media" should happen from within the LDM's own scope. IOW. If the event leading to a change of 'arms' comes from 'the stage', then you should try to let this 'stage-event' set a 'flag' in the LDM, and then let the LDM asynchronously handle the 'message from its own internally originating event.
