Symbols within director

Hi,
        I have a lot of equations which are part of a quiz. The original quiz
documents were typed in Microsoft Word.
Is there anyway to display symbols within director. Will embedding fonts
give me a proper solution. The symbols are all
complex  scientific symbols and superscript characters.
