He he he he he - what a dimwit.
You really need to get an education. try books written around 1992-1994 on
the fall of the Soviet Union. They try some strategic reviews of the
russian governments since Yelstin became seriously ill. Then, when you have
done that, you can make accurate comments on Russia - cos right now you dont
understand a thing.

What you are talking about has nothing to do with the "Intel." It has to do
with the operating system AND/OR the compiler.

You must admit, even if reluctantly, passing a 64M structure is a bit extreme,
wouldn't you? Depending on how either the OS or compiler environment sets up
the data heap and stack, it is quite possible for a huge stack usage to grow
the stack to the point where it either corrupts the heap or crosses a protected
boundary. Remember programming 101 where you saw of the stack grows down and
the heap grows up?

Depending on how the program is laid out in memory, 64M can be quite a lot.

It has nothing to do with Intel. I have issues with Intel chips in general, but
I don't think this is something you can blame on them.

It may be an OS limitation on stack size, i.e. an empty VM page at the bottom
of the stack which causes a page fault, or a compiler/linker issue with stack
vs heap layout. Either way, it has nothing to do with the chip being used.

vi *is* unintuitive - but only till you learn it. After that it's
unbelievably fast to manipulate text, available on just about any
UNIX machine (and even available on those other "OSs"), and nowhere
near as bloated as Xemacs - not to start a flame war here.

Thanks for proving my point.

That is one big fat lie and you know it. Be honest. I've attended some
of these "information sessions" in public schools. They are blatant
indoctrination sessions designed to teach kids that homosexuality is
a normal, desirable lifestyle. In one of them, they had the gall
to start teaching about MY religion, telling the kids that it was
false and intolerant. It's OK for them to teach the kids about MY
religion in a derogatory and demeaning manner. What do you think
would happen if I wanted to teach the kids about my religious beliefs
in a public school?

anything other than ability to memorize M$ propaganda, then they
certainly do not deserve to be called "tech companies."

There is one in the xscreensaver package included in most (all?) distro's

unfortunately it also simulates Mac, Amiga and a couple of other
equivalents of the BSOD and seems to have no options to only select one
system to simulate.

Impossible with a properly set up MMU. The stack and heaps are not
contiguous.

Under the old imperial system of measurements, 400 pounds is over 28
stones, not one as you suggest. One stone is fourteen pounds, the
weight of a healthy six month baby.

This is patently wrong. You can assign rights to do this in the local
policy editor. Just go to Administrative Tools in control panel, open Local
Security Settings, then Local Policies, User Rights. Double click on "Load
and Unload device drivers" and click "Add" and choose the users or groups
you want to be able to burn CD's.

That's why it it's called "professional". That's also why Whistler personal
will be simplified for these tasks.

I recently upgraded the CD burner in my dual-boot win98se / mandrake 7.2
machine from a 2x2x6 speed unit to a 12x10x32 speed unit - the result on
booting into linux was the system showed no indication that the hardware
had changed but burning a CDRW disc resulted in a complete disc in about 6
minutes compared to 35 mins with the old drive.

I then booted into win98 - with my existing software I could only burn a
CDRW at 4x speed so I installed the Adaptec EX-CD software supplied with
the new drive - the result of this was the machine refused to boot and
just bluescreened during the boot process. It took nearly 2 hours of
internet browsing to find the cause of the problem - the file SCSI1HLP.VXD
installed by the software conflicted with my DVD drive.

There - upgrading a CDRW drive on linux just works without any hassle yet
upgrading on windows kills the OS and takes hours to find the cause
(without linux to browse with to find details of problem I'd have had to
spend most of this week reinstalling Windblows and every application I use).

Well documented? About as well documented as the Windows settings to do the
same thing.

To you it may be empty. To millions of Americans it is not. The only
