Mandrake 6.0 uses kernel 2.2.9-19 (build #19??). It's not a
Red Hat kernel - it's a *Linux* kernel. Red Hat is a
distribution of Linux - just like Mandrake, SUSE, Slackware
and Caldera.

On the contrary - I've seen a ton o' posts talking about
good response / experience with the K6-2/350. With the
newer, faster CPUs the timing of the mobo, bus and memory is
much more critical. You might want to confirm the speed of
your memory. That seems to be where most of the lockups
that have been reported seemed to have come from. FWIW.

Greetings!

[1] My laptop on RedHat v. 6.0 just took a crash; I had to hard-boot.
(This had to do with the funky apm driver which I think I'll desist from
using.) (Now the boot-up routine waits inordinately long on sendmail,
about 3 - 5 minutes.

[2] The bootup also seeks a 'hdd' which doesn't make sense. It soon
'resets' itself and continues with the boot process.

Of the two issues, the first one is the most bothersome. I fear I've
munged sendmail somehow. I need to know some standard trouble-shoot
strategies.

F.
