Just go with a harware modem.. i have a nice zoltrix with a rockwell
chip that works excellently in Linux. Also if one IS insistent on
using a winmodem, i have read that PC-tel (whose modems at work we
affectionately refer to as PC -hell) is releasing a new line of
winmodeme called Linmodems (www.linmodems.org) that r supposed to work
with linux. I'm not holding my breath tho...
