I have done both ./netscape and just netscape. I've also tried to open it
from KDE X-windows.

download the wrong version? Is there something I need to setup to get it to
run?

I installed it into the default directory of /opt/netscape. Do I have to
move it to another directory?

Two things come to mind.

One, are you typing Netscape or netscape? Case matters.

Two, have you tried typing ./netscape? Sometimes you have to explicitly
tell the system "look in this directory I am now in."
